Community Outreach:
Bringing the Experience of Dance to our Local Community
A goal of the Rudram Dance Company is to bring the extraordinary, creative form of Bharathanatyam to the community through interactive programs at public libraries, schools, and other community spaces. Founder and director Tara Bikkasani greatly enjoys introducing the youth to the grandeur of traditional Indian dancing. Promoting cultural awareness and understanding of the traditions and culture of classical Indian dance through interactive, entertaining, and artistic dance performances is a key component of RDC's mission.
RISING STARS SUMMER INTENSIVE PROGRAM
RDC committee agreed to sponsor three outgoing High school Graduate students to study with Professional Bharatanatyam dancers in India. This was four weeks intensive course where in they studied both Nritta and Abhinaya from experienced, professional dancers and also performed which was recorded all through Virtual learning.
Rudram dance company Sponsored one Merit based and Two Need based Scholarship.
We received many application and had a two member committee to choice Need based and
Merit based scholarship applications were sent in to India to be scored
This is covered for two yrs and the Scholarship winners are:
Merit Based - Ashwini Prasanna
Need Based - Khushee Doshi and Ashvitha Kanagaraj.
